Belugas Count

The first ever Cook Inlet Beluga Celebration and Citizen Count is an all-day event to bring people together to focus on Beluga Whales. It’s a collaboration between a variety of federal and state agencies, local and national organizations and individuals. Stop by one or more of the eight different Turnagain Arm Counting Stations in the Anchorage area from 9 a.m to noon and help station hosts spot and count whales from shore. Then go to the Alaska Zoo from noon to 5 p.m. to learn about the research, following of belugas, physical attributes of belugas and more! Booths from a variety of state-wide organizations will be available. Event admission is free, however regular admission fees apply for zoo exhibits.
