#GoodNews: Baby Born On Utah Flight With Angels On Board

A woman from Orem unexpectedly gave birth Wednesday during a flight to Hawaii.

Lavinia “Lavi” Mounga says she didn't even know she was pregnant. The baby arrived early at just 29 weeks. Luckily, a doctor and 3 NICU nurses were on board. They jumped into action and delivered the baby.

They used shoelaces to tie off and cut the umbilical cord. Then, they made warmers out of microwaved bottles and used an Apple Watch to measure little Raymond's heart rate. They kept him stable for 3 hours until the plane landed.

Lavinia let Dr. Glenn give the baby a middle name. He chose “Kaimana” — Hawaiian for “Power of the Sea."
