MacGyver would be proud of this trick. Watch this video and learn how a clear plastic bag and water can become a FIRE STARTER. I'd love to try this on my next campfire.
I like to test interesting and convenient fire starting methods in my fireplace at home. This is one of my favorites fire starters-- a magnesium bar.
With your pocket knife, shave off some magnesium until there is a pile of dust and shavings about the size of a quarter, put it on or near your tinder, and then strike the flint rod on the side with your pocket to make sparks that ignite the pile. It's a light weight, long lasting fire starter that easily fits into camping gear and survival kits. Here is a good demo video. Happy camping! ~Brian
