WWII BOMB FOUND IN FRANKFURT-EVACUATION PLANNED

posted by Brian Ross -

This reminded my of my high school days, believe it or not (scroll down for more on that.  AN UNEXPLODED BRITISH BOMB FROM WORLD WAR II was discovered during a construction project in Frankfurt Germany.  It is a large one, especially for its era, so the largest bomb evacuation (about 70,000 people) is planned so that it can be disposed of.   Click the picture for the full article.

I wasn't kidding about my high school bomb experience.  I went to Zweibrucken American High School on an American Air Base in what was then West Germany (GO TROJANS!!).  One day back in the mid 80's, the P.A. came on and a rather nervous voice spoke, the Vice Principal I think, telling us to evacuate.  As I recall, he said, "A--a--attention all students and t-t-teachers.  At this time... we must... evacuate the school.  P-p-please proceed to exit the building from the East... NO, WEST!!! The WEST SIDE of the building!  WEST! WEST!"

Okay, I may be exaggerating a bit on the announcement, but yeah, we got evacuated.

This event had a profound affect on my education, too.  It got me out of taking a test I had not studied for.

Nobody got hurt.  Happy ending! Here's what I looked like then during my senior year.
