This may be the PROUDEST blog I have ever written. It's my weight loss year-in-review! I have happily put together a photo gallery of this 34 week, life-changing time at the end of this post. I began my weight loss journey with You First on the Ideal Protein Plan back on May 4th (link). I was 49 years old and weight 313 pounds. That's quite a difference from the former U.S. Army Paratrooper I used to be.
I also had made a trip to the emergency room the previous month for still-unidentified stomach pains. Scary, but fortunately those went away as the pounds began melting off me.
By that time I turned 50 on October 23rd, I had lost ALMOST enough weight to be under 200 pounds.
Along the way, I learned how to cook, how to shop for healthy foods, and how to prepare my meals for the week in advance. My home became neater, my clothes got smaller, and my energy and ambition returned. For every pound I lost, I seemed to make room in my body for more health and hope to get back in.
And most importantly, I discovered that EVERYONE was cheering for me. My family, my friends & colleagues, Facebook friends and fans of my blog-- every single one showered me with compliments and encouragement until my heart felt like it would burst. My eyes are watering now as I type these words. No matter what bad things may have been happening in my life or in my world, I always knew there was love out there in abundance. Thank you! Also, I managed to bring along a few friends-- people who saw my progress and made the decision to change their own life by doing the same thing. It feels like losing extra weight for me for each pound they lose themselves. I am so proud of each of them.
313.6 pounds on May 4th. 179.2 pounds on Dec 28th.
134.4 POUNDS LOST IN 34 WEEKS!
Chest: lost 15.5 inches Ribcage: lost 10.5 inches Hips: lost 13 inches WAISTLINE: LOST 19.25 INCHES!
