I thought I'd start with a St. Patrick's Day before/after-- 313 pounds to 164! I'm still staying at my healthy weight range after three weeks in Phase 4 of the Ideal Protein plan with You First (link).
I say weight range because weight naturally fluctuates but should stay around a 5 pound range. Mine seems to be establishing itself between 162 (my lowest measured weight) and 167. However, if I hit 170, I know it's time to modify my eating habits.
I have protein & veggies in every meal, and with breakfast, I also have carbs and fats, including cheese and fruit. YAY, BUTTER & BACON-- I have missed you!!
For lunch and dinner, one is a carb rich/low fat meal, the other is a fat rich/low carb meal. So, for lunch I may have a couple slices of bread or a bun-- but no cheese. For dinner, I may have meat & vegetables with cheese, but no bread.
I don't avoid carbs or fats completely in either meal-- I just manage what the primary component is for lunch and dinner (protein with fats or protein with carbs), and I don't overdue the portions... unless it's my weekly "indulgence day!" I feel LIBERATED! It really boosted my confidence knowing that I can enjoy food, but that I can control it and food doesn't control me. I didn't know I had that in me... until Ideal Protein.
Phase 4 of Ideal Protein is teaching me how to eat healthily, but also to ENJOY the food in my life, including showing me how to enjoy those occasional fun foods and celebrations. Yes, I even had a slice of Mark Murphy's birthday cake!!
