Greetings!  Bikin' Brian strikes again!  Over Independence Day, I independently struck out on my own self-supported 'metric century' ride (100 kilometers) to get ready for the Tour de Cure for the American Diabetes Association!  It's coming up on Sunday, August 12th and I'd love it if you would join me. I think the Tour de Cure is the perfect fit.

Recently I lost a lot of weight--151 pounds--and a key component of weight loss that was reducing my insulin output by reducing my carbs.  I was very lucky that even though I weighed up to 313 at my heaviest, I did not develop diabetes though I had several other medical conditions.

Many in America are not so fortunate.

The Tour de Cure is an event where no matter what road you take, you will be joining thousands of people from around the country who have the same passion as you to fight diabetes and its burdens.

It has routes of 63 Mile (aka a 'metric century' of 100 kilometers), 30 Mile, 12 Mile, 5K and is open to bikers, runners and walkers.   I will be biking the 63.

I encourage you to register, raise money for the ADA, and then walk/run/ride along this route that circles Anchorage.  Here is the link.
