CLEAN AIR CHALLENGE TRAINING! 52 MILES-Anchorage to Girdwood RT!

52 MILES!! I did a solo ride to train for the upcoming 100-Mile route (the longest of four) in the Clean Air Challenge on May 11 (link). Over the weekend, I packed up my snacks and gear into my pack, hopped on Shadow, my new Specialized Diverge road bike, and put rubber to the road! I biked round trip between Anchorage (Potter Marsh) and Girdwood, taking the beautiful and hilly Bird-to-Gird trail both ways. Check out my photos gallery of stops along the way (not in order). It's a great trail!

Please sponsor me on the Clean Air Challenge (link).

I'm accepting donations to support the American Lung Association in Alaska, to promote clean air and healthy lungs.

This is a fully supported fundraising ride with 4 routes (10, 26, 60 or 100 miles). You are welcome to select a route and join the iHeartRadio team no matter which route you take. I will be doing the 100-miler with my teammate, Stewart Lyle (link).

It's a fun ride, beginning and ending at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge and there are some great fundraising incentives. You could win a bike like mine! A Specialized Diverge-- and let me tell you, they GOBBLE UP those hills!

WHY I RIDE!

I'm riding in honor of my parents, Gerald & Frances Ross. Mom passed away in 2001 with bone and lung cancer. My father, a WWII Veteran, was a prostate cancer survivor. He passed away in 2014.

If my efforts can help save the life of someone's loved one, I'm proud to pedal 100-miles. ~Brian
