***NO UNDERPANTS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS PLAY...orblog.***
This weekend, I had a SHARED UNDERPANTS experience with many others in Anchorage as we gathered at the PAC for opening night of The Underpants, a production of Alaska's own Perseverance Theatre.
It seems that wardrobe malfunctions led to just as much scandal and comedy over a century ago as they do today. This Steve Martin comedy directed by Teresa K. Pond filled the Sydney Lawrence Theatre with laughter. Steve Martin adapted this play from Carl Steinheim’s 1910 German Farce, Die Hose.
After cramming five days of work into four days of week after Labor Day, I was ready to decompress and laugh-- and The Underpants delivered! These wonderful Alaskan actors combined the words of a comic genius with excellent timing-- and they really threw themselves into their roles. I was very impressed with the vivid expressions of the actors, especially Kelly Gibson, which carried the humor even farther.
After the final bow, I slipped onto the set with my partner in crime, Frank Delaney, and played around a little bit. Enjoy my cheeky Underpants photo gallery below.
And remember to get your tickets for The Underpants which is running through September 15th.Here's the link.
